WTW names Simon Weaver as inaugural Head of Asia Pacific
Global advisory and insurance group WTW has named Australia-based Simon Weaver as the inaugural leader of its newly formed Asia Pacific business division.
The news comes in parallel with WTW’s announcement that it has merged its 25+ offices across Oceania and Asia to create a powerhouse division spanning the full Asia Pacific region.
Pamela Thomson-Hall, Head of International at WTW, said that the joining of forces will enable the firm to “maintain its agility in an increasingly complex and fast-shifting economy” and “help to unlock potential synergies across markets and increase operational efficiency.”
Tasked to lead the new, enlarged wing is Simon Weaver, who most recently served as Head of Australasia. Weaver has been with WTW (formerly Willis Towers Watson) since 2015, joining as Head of Singapore and South East Asia and subsequently leading the Corporate Risk & Broking in Asia and Australasia before assuming his latest position.
“Simon’s leadership across Australasia has been inspirational amid volatile market conditions. I have utmost confidence that his client-first, strategic and forward-thinking approach will foster increased regional collaboration and strengthen the delivery of our client offerings as one Asia Pacific,” said Thomson-Hall.
Commenting on his new appointment, Weaver said: “I am excited to be given the opportunity to lead the new Asia Pacificregion. This combination will be key to maximising WTW’s ability to connect and collaborate without losing the uniqueness of our business segments. I look forward to contributing to a new phase of growth.”
A veteran in the risk management and insurance broking industry, prior to WTW Weaver spent some two decades at JLT across its offices in Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Singapore.
