Angela Robinson named country managing director of Publicis Sapient in Australia
Digital transformation consultancy Publicis Sapient has appointed former Deloitte lead client services partner Angela Robinson as its new country managing director for Australia.
Angela Robinson joins Publicis Sapient after spending the past six years at Deloitte, including as lead marketing & commerce partner for Deloitte Digital in the Asia Pacific, before which she spent over a decade and a half at Accenture.
To be based out of Melbourne, Robinson replaces Philip Phelan, who has been acting Australia boss since the departure of Claire Rawlins in August of last year and will once again focus on his role as chief strategy & innovation officer.
“We are deeply committed to supporting Australia’s tech-driven transformation and are thrilled to welcome Angela to the team,” said Publicis Sapient’s London-based CEO Nigel Vaz. “Her expertise and proven ability to drive change will be instrumental as we drive growth in the region, scale our capabilities, and empower clients to innovate, grow, and make a meaningful impact.”
An economics graduate of the University of Tasmania, Robinson altogether spent seventeen years at Accenture prior to joining Deloitte in 2018, where she held a series of national senior leadership roles, including digital experience & marketing lead partner before heading client services for the past eighteen months. She was also a member of Deloitte’s indigenous leadership team.
“This is an incredibly exciting step in my career and I couldn't be more proud to be joining such an innovative and forward thinking company,” Robinson stated. “Publicis Sapient is renowned for its leadership in customer-driven digital business transformation, and I’m looking forward to working with the exceptional team to drive growth, innovation and most importantly, customer success.”
According to the consultancy, which is coming up on its one-decade anniversary since Publicis Groupe’s $3.7 billion purchase of Sapient in 2015, Robinson will be tasked with managing local operations while further embedding AI capabilities into its digital transformation offering, which it dubs ‘SPEED’ – combining strategy & consulting, product, experience, engineering, and data.
The recruitment of Robinson follows that of former KPMG senior leader Dan Hews from NCS as head of marketing, with Publicis Sapient demonstrating in the past that it’s not afraid to tap its competitors for senior talent, with among others government practice lead Mark Williams brought in from DXC Technology and financial services head Tales Sian Lopes arriving via Accenture.
