RSM has recruited a number of new senior leaders to its offices across Australia, including Larissa Lai as a partner in Brisbane alongside a trio of directors in Sydney, Canberra and Perth.

New partner Lai crosses to RSM’s brand new Brisbane office in the accounting and consulting firm’s R&D tax & government incentives practice after more than a decade at Deloitte, having joined the Big Four firm as a graduate in 2013.

Meanwhile, Róisín Arkwright (Tax, Sydney), Michael Clark (Consulting, Canberra), and Gavin O’Neill (Tax, Perth) have all come on board as directors, with the former pair also bringing Big Four experience.

“We are thrilled to welcome our newest partners and directors,” RSM stated, after having also made 14 new internal partner and director promotions to kick off the new year. “Their expertise and dedication will undoubtedly strengthen our team and enhance the value we deliver to our clients. We look forward to their contributions and the continued growth of RSM Australia.”

Larissa Lai joined Deloitte in 2013 upon completion of a law degree with the QUT, since adding a taxation law masters and complementing an earlier bachelors in biomedical science. At RSM, she serves large corporate entities and SMEs, including those in the life sciences, manufacturing, F&B, and engineering sectors among others, in navigating the complex R&D tax incentive landscape.

Also an expert in R&D tax, Róisín Arkwright likewise joins from Deloitte, as a director in Sydney, after spending more than three decades in the Big Four space between Deloitte and KPMG both locally and abroad, most recently as a principal for global investment & innovation incentives at the former. She initially kicked off her career as a tax consultant with KPMG in London in 1992.

Meanwhile, Michael Clark crosses after two years with SaaS platform ServiceNow as a director in RSM’s Management Consulting Group  practice in Canberra, which was established at the beginning of last year, before which he spent over a decade at KPMG supporting government clients on policy and tech transformation. Earlier, he spent over a decade in the APS, with a focus on housing and indigenous affairs.

Gavin O’Neill comes to RSM as a corporate tax director in Perth via SGS, a global testing, inspection and certification company based out of Geneva, where he served as regional tax director for APAC. Prior to that, he spent a decade at BDO, joining the firm in 2012 following an accounting and business law double at Curtin University before ultimately rising to associate director.

The addition of Lai, together with the internal partnership promotions – a big jump in numbers from the corresponding round last year – brings RSM’s Australia partner count to the threshold of 150, with the local firm also now pushing towards the 2,000 employee mark overall. The firm grew by double-digit figures last year, its ~$370 million in revenues placing it firmly inside the local top ten.

“We’re delighted to welcome Larissa, Roisin, Michael and Gavin to RSM, who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our growing mid-market client mix in their respective service lines,” stated chief executive partner Jamie O’Rourke. “At a time when our firm is growing exponentially, it’s critical that we continue to attract and nurture top-tier talent.”
