Protiviti promotes three new directors in Australia

Protiviti has added three new directors to its Australian line-up amid the global professional services firm's annual new year’s promotions: Jacob Bosden, William Hunt, and Layla Shakkour.

Jacob Bosden and William Hunt are members of Protiviti’s internal audit practice, respectively based out of Brisbane and Melbourne, while Layla Shakkour becomes a director in the firm’s risk & compliance team in Sydney.

The trio follow the four directors elevated last year, with the firm also making a handful of local associate director promotions, although, unlike Hirun Tantirigama in 2024, no one from the Asia Pacific steps up to managing director.

Bosden has been with Protiviti for the past decade, joining the firm as a graduate upon the completion of a business and HR management degree with the Queensland University of Technology, while Hunt, who earned a science and commerce double from Monash, crossed in 2016 after starting out as a consulting analyst at real estate advisory JLL.

“Protiviti really is an amazing place to work that supports and nurtures its people,” Bosden stated on LinkedIn, with Hunt sharing similar sentiments. “I look forward to working with my colleagues and mentors and seeing what comes next in this adventure. Thank you to the amazing people I've worked with throughout my career and those that have supported me in making this step.”

An arts degree-holder from King’s College London, Shakkour meanwhile started out with four years in KPMG’s regulatory risk team in the UK, before joining Protiviti as a risk and compliance manager in Sydney in February of 2020 – at the dawn of the global Covid-19 outbreak and its widespread disruption. Despite this perhaps inauspicious start, she has quickly climbed the ranks.

“From manager to associate director to director in just five years, Layla’s journey at Protiviti Australia is a shining example of hard work, dedication and passion,” the firm stated. “Layla’s dedication to delivering outstanding results for clients, commitment to excellence, and passion for building strong relationships set her apart, and we are grateful to have her in our Protiviti family.”

Other promotions

In addition to its new directors, a number of Sydney-based Protiviti professionals have also been elevated to associate director, including Mia Angelica Paredes and Aayushi Malhotra (technology consulting), Katherine Holt (risk & compliance), and Darryl Gao (financial services risk & assurance), while former Melbourne senior manager Kwabena Boahene has made the grade in L.A.
