PKF appoints new partner and principals in Sydney & Newcastle

The Sydney & Newcastle branch of professional services firm PKF has made almost two dozen promotions, including the elevation of Rebecca McCabe to partner and two new principals.
A commerce graduate of the University of Canberra, McCabe has been based out of PKF’s Newcastle office since 2015, joining the firm following an earlier five-year start at PwC. She was noted by PKF for her leadership and commitment to delivering exceptional client outcomes.
Meanwhile, the firm’s latest promotional round has also seen the elevation of Laura Mackowiak and Alex Honner to principal in Sydney, with the pair both having been at PKF since 2018, including the past fifteen months abroad at PKF Littlejohn in London for Honner.
“At PKF, we take pride in fostering career progression and recognising talent,” stated Sydney and Newcastle managing director Bob Bell. “Each of these individuals has demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication and leadership in their respective areas. Their promotions reflect their personal achievements and our firm’s ongoing commitment to excellence.”
Rebecca McCabe predominantly serves small and family business clients across a diverse range of sectors, including those in construction, hospitality, healthcare, education, and mining among others, on matters such as business process improvement, strategic planning, cash flow management, reporting, and tax compliance.
Examples of McCabe’s recent engagements include advising a start-up in the fitness industry to help establish its strategic goals and a growth plan towards expansion, and implementing the roll-out of a new operating model for the University of Newcastle’s finance division.
“I’m incredibly proud to step into the role of partner at PKF,” McCabe stated. “This firm has provided me with fantastic opportunities to grow, and I look forward to continuing to support our clients and mentor the next generation of professionals.”
Meanwhile, Laura Mackowiak and Alex Honner are both members of PKF’s governance, risk & compliance team. Mackowiak joined the firm as an audit senior after five years with Manchester accountancy HURST, while Honner only recently returned from her stint with PKF in the UK, where she worked as a technology manager.
