Keith Morrison appointed as CEO of NEC in Australia and New Zealand

Technology consultancy NEC has appointed Keith Morrison as its next A/NZ president and CEO, with Morrison set to replace Jason Price from the beginning of August.

Jason Price was tapped to lead NEC’s Australian and New Zealand business at the end of 2022, joining the Tokyo-headquartered giant after almost a decade and a half at IBM. His departure follows the recent return of Mike Sellars as chief technology officer.

Based out of one of NEC’s primary strategic markets in Perth, Keith Morrison meanwhile joined the firm as a senior vice president toward the end of last year after a decade at Datacom, before which he spent seven years in senior roles at local tech advisory Kinetic IT.

“NEC is in a strong position to grow in the region, with a diverse portfolio of solutions, market-leading technologies, and a clear strategic direction,” Morrison said. “We’ve laid the groundwork for something significant, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with our people, customers, and industry partners as we accelerate our growth and deliver even greater value.”

Since arriving, Morrison has been tasked with driving the growth of NEC’s digital government & digital finance division, with the firm having selected Perth as the location for its digital government CoE in 2023. Previously, he served as Datacom’s director of technical services, as well as leading the firm’s Western Australia & South Australia region among other senior roles.

Morrison was also noted for his central role in shaping NEC’s current three-year strategy, while Price, whose next move wasn’t publicly shared, was credited by the firm for having led it through a period of transformational change and modernisation to lay the foundations for long-term growth, including by strengthening its operations and culture and deepening its customer focus.

“It’s been a privilege to lead NEC through a defining period,” Price said. “I’m proud of the progress we’ve made in reshaping the business and setting a clear path for the future. I am confident that Keith is the best person to guide the business through its next phase, as he brings the right mix of deep experience, energy, clear vision, and a strong understanding of NEC’s strategy and values.”
