PwC appoints 29 new partners including 8 in Advisory business

Global professional services firm PwC has admitted 29 new members to its partnership in Australia and Papua New Guinea, including eight individuals within its Advisory business.

Olympia Newman, Lee Jiang, and Marino Felice have been made advisory partners in Sydney, along with Kit Wong in Adelaide and Troy Rosenlis and Rob Lennon in Melbourne, while Alison Judd becomes a partner in Port Moresby.

Also among the mix is new Sydney-based partner recruit and former Salesforce CTO Gayan Benedict, who joins Nick P’ng, Kerryl Bradshaw, and Jason McLean as lateral advisory partnership hires PwC has lured since the beginning of the year.

Following its renewed intake last year, PwC all up made more than two dozen mid-year partnership promotion across its recently reorganised business lines, with a pretty even split of around ten each between the Big Four firm’s assurance and tax & legal divisions across its offices in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, and Papua New Guinea.

“Industries as we know them are changing, with global pressures such as inflation and geopolitical tension leading to disruption,” said CEO Kevin Burrowes. “These new partners have demonstrated they are well equipped to help our clients navigate this change, showing they can think outside the box to create exciting solutions utilising the latest technological advancements and innovations.”

In an unusual move, Burrowes also expressed the firm’s gratitude for the 76 partners who have retired from PwC at the start of this month, taking its total number down to a touch over 600 after previous highs closer to the 900-mark just two years ago. However, the firm also announced the promotion of 21 new ‘managing directors’ in its latest round, a top-level non-equity leadership grade.

Among the retirees is chief risk & ethics officer Jan McCahey, who has been replaced by former national mining lead and Brisbane managing partner Debbie Smith, while Wendy Stops has now officially joined the PwC board as its fourth independent director, having previously worked as a senior tech managing director at Accenture and advisory group member at Kearney.

As to another new joiner, Gayan Benedict crosses to PwC’s advisory team in Sydney after the past three and half years as chief technology officer for Salesforce in Australia and New Zealand. Prior to that, he was chief information officer at the Reserve Bank of Australia, and has also held senior roles at Westpac, Travelex and Oracle after starting his career at Deloitte in 1997.
