Sequana adds WolfPeak and Factotum to growing environmental consulting group
Pemba-backed advisory group Sequana continues to expand with two new additions: environment and sustainability consultancy WolfPeak and communications and engagement firm Factotum.
WolfPeak and Factotum are the latest additions to the group following Pemba Capital Partners’ investment in water specialist Sequana towards the end of last year, with consultancies Atlas and Infrastructure Project Solutions coming on board in June.
Now adding to that growing service portfolio is Wolfpeak, a Sydney-based environmental and sustainability consultancy, and fellow Sydney outfit Factotum Communications, which specialises in engagement on infrastructure and environmental projects.
“Our partnerships with WolfPeak and Factotum strengthen our ability to solve complex challenges for clients and communities,” said Sequana co-founder and CEO Frank Fisseler. “They align perfectly with our values and our ambition to build the most trusted and comprehensive advisory and delivery platform in Australia, and together mark the next step in Sequana’s growth.”
WolfPeak
Wolfpeak was established by directors Steve Fermio and Tim Stubbs in 2011 and has a team of around two dozen consultants and specialists based across offices in Sydney, Port Macquarie, Newcastle, and Brisbane with capabilities in environmental planning, biodiversity assessment, climate risk, ESG strategy, auditing & compliance, and natural capital among other areas.
Sequana: “In the context of federal environmental planning reform, access to clear, robust advice has never been more important to project success. Known for its practical, science-based approach to complex regulatory and environmental challenges, WolfPeak strengthens the group’s ability to help clients meet rapidly evolving standards around resilience, sustainability and compliance.”
Factotum
Factotum, meanwhile, was established at the beginning of 2020 by former NSW public sector comms manager Kate Kernaghan with a focus on strategic communications and community and stakeholder education and engagement for complex projects in the government, environment, infrastructure and resources spaces, working closely with Sequana since its inception.
“Our work with Sequana over recent years has shown how aligned our values and approach are, and what’s changing now is mostly the wrapper,” Kernaghan said. “This partnership broadens our reach and enables us to bring our engagement capability to a wider national audience; helping clients manage risk, engage authentically, and deliver projects that communities understand and support.”
Pemba
For Pemba, the latest deal continues the private equity firm’s push into the professional services sector. Pemba also has fast-growing ESG management consultancy Rennie on its books, backing the firm since late 2023, and in the past twelve or so months has made significant investments in cybersecurity advisory ctrl:cyber and Victorian accounting and advisory firm Stannards.
