Infosys launches its first global cybersecurity operations centre in Australia

Global technology services firm Infosys has launched a dedicated Global Security Operations Center in Sydney which will provide 24/7 monitoring, threat detection, and incident response services.

The move follows the firm’s near $100 million purchase of Sydney-based cyber solutions and consulting firm The Missing Link in the first half of last year, which added a team of more than 200 specialists to Infosys’ overall Australian headcount.

Up and running in Infosys’ North Sydney office for the past couple of months, the official launch event for the new GSOC was attended by industry leaders including former Australian Signals Directorate director general Rachel Noble, who gave a keynote speech.

Others to share their perspectives at the launch event included Missing Link CISO Aaron Bailey and security operations head Tim Niblett, as well as Infosys’ APAC executive vice president Andrew Groth and regional cloud, infrastructure & cybersecurity service leader Vikas Tatwani, while enterprise clients and other guests could experience a live GSOC walk-through.

“Throughout the morning, the same challenges stood out,” The Missing Linked stated post-event. “More alerts to manage. Faster-moving threats. Higher expectations from boards and regulators, often without more resources. The GSOC brings together The Missing Link’s local expertise with Infosys’ global capability to support organisations as these demands continue to grow.”

Established in 1997 by CEO Alex Gambotto and executive director Daniel Forsythe, The Missing Link grew to be one of Australia’s largest sovereign cybersecurity providers prior to its sale, but continues to operate under its own brand within Infosys’s wider global security network while being enhanced by the consultancy’s advanced end-to-end ‘Cobalt’ cloud and AI capabilities.

In addition to monitoring, detection, and incident response services for enterprise and government clients, the new GSOC will also provide compliance support for those in highly regulated industries and leverage the firm’s offensive capabilities such as to penetration testing and red-teaming in an effort to address the increasing sophistication, volume, and pace of modern-day threats.

“The GSOC builds on what we’ve already been doing for years; helping organisations improve visibility, respond faster, and stay on top of risk,” The Missing Link stated. “Now, as an Infosys company, we can take that further, combining local expertise with global capability, which means stronger threat intelligence, more advanced tooling, and delivery frameworks proven at scale.”
