Kinetic IT launches new AI engineering practice for forward deployment
Technology consultancy Kinetic IT has launched a new AI engineering & platforms practice to be led by recruit Marcio Sete and aimed at supporting government and those in critical infrastructure.
The firm said the new practice marks an evolution in its services offering by adopting a ‘forward deployed engineer’ model to embed AI technicians within organisations to directly design, build, and accelerate the roll-out of artificial intelligence solutions.
A one time principal consultant at Elabor8, Sete joins Kinetic IT from innovation consultancy Neu21 following the recent appointment of Kishore Jayaram as chief transformation officer, a newly-created role tasked with developing new digital services.
“Organisations want practical outcomes from AI, not more proof-of-concepts,” Jayaram said. “They are looking for trusted partners who understand their operations and can help deploy AI safely within complex, mission-critical environments. Our new AI engineering & platforms practice extends Kinetic IT’s ability to support customers through this next stage of adoption.”
Jayaram added that by embedding experienced engineers alongside customer teams – with more to be recruited – the firm can then better help address operational challenges while maintaining the security, governance, and reliability required across government and those operating in highly-regulated critical infrastructure environments, such as to aviation, utilities, and resources.
Sete brings almost three decades worth of industry experience to the new practice, covering both software and business development alongside project delivery. He spent six years at management consultancy Elabor8 (now a part of Cprime) after arriving in Sydney in 2015, including as head of technology services, before co-founding and serving in a series of senior tech start-up roles.
“Many organisations already know where AI could create value,” Sete said, speaking of his latest. “The challenge isn’t identifying opportunities, it’s turning them into secure, production-ready solutions that work within complex operational environments, and forward deployed engineers close that gap. Rather than advising from the outside, they become part of the client’s team.”
Sete follows not just Jayaram through the door at Kinetic IT, the latter another three-decade industry veteran bringing experience from NCS, Thoughtworks, Accenture, and McKinsey & Company, but also recently-appointed chief executive Dean Langenbach, who took up the role in March after previously leading NRI Australia and altogether spending almost two decades at the firm.
