To help leaders navigate the unprecedented change faced by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Australian School of Applied Management (ASAM) has teamed up with Nous Group to develop a virtual learning program.

Leaders are facing arguably the greatest business challenge of their life, and contrary to previous times of crisis, they are now forced to lead in digital and virtual fashion. The outbreak of the coronavirus has slashed billions of Australia’s economic engine, and plunged companies and entrepreneurs across all sectors into rough waters.

The government’s record breaking $200 billion plus economic relief scheme is meanwhile being rolled-out, but a lockdown aimed at curbing contamination rates and further spreading of the disease means that businesses are forced to operate in a way that has never been seen before in history.

According to experts from ASAM and management consultancy Nous Group, “there has never been a more urgent need to create an adaptive, collaborative and agile workforce.” Leaders are at the helm of this monumental task, and the way they lead, adapt and respond during the Covid-19 crisis “will shape how their organisations fare through this crisis.”

Nous and ASAM launch virtual learning program for leaders

Their program specifically designed for the Covid-19 environment helps leaders develop the capability to lead their people in this new virtual world, including shaping culture and supporting people virtually, managing digital-led decision-making, and building trust through clear and transparent communication.

This in turn will help leaders better manage and respond to the ongoing challenges being faced by the business such as connecting with clients, keeping the supply chain running and strategic planning for a post-covid-19 era, as well as and crisis management plans including cost cutting and cash flow / net working capital management.

The ‘Leading through adversity’ virtual learning program consists of four 90-minute live webinar modules, supported by learning before and after in small cohorts to foster rich dialogue. During the program, leaders will gain valuable insights which they can put into practice immediately and collaborate with other leaders facing similar challenges.

Key topics on the agenda span rapidly building an agile and resilient response plan, dealing with a virtual and dispersed workforce, creating trust and engagement while sustaining productivity, and preparing for a new future through strategic planning including pre-sorting for future-proof opportunities.

Experts insights and guidance is provided by a faculty of experts, including leaders who have gained crisis management experience during the global financial crisis of 2008-2012. Among the experts are Michael van Koesveld, Steve Lennon, Rachael Cronin, Tim Marney, Richard Bolt and Rod Camm, Kirsty Elderton and Tony Fiddes.

The virtual program can be delivered either in an accelerated (1 week) or spaced (4 weeks) timeline.
