Cyber security consultancy and technology provider CyberCX has acquired Basis Networks, expanding its network security and technical engineering capabilities.

Melbourne-based Basis Networks provides a suite of cyber security professional services to government and private sector clients, including the likes of AEMO, Australia Post, JB Hi Fi, Bupa and McMillan Shakespeare.

Following a period of growth, earning the company a spot on among others CRN’s Fast 50 list, Basis Networks has now decided to forego its independence and join CyberCX, a 400-strong group which formed in October last year

“It is a natural fit. CyberCX has quickly established itself as Australia’s leading cyber security organisation. Their end-to-end cyber security offering, combined with our network security credentials and service commitment will create exciting growth opportunities,” said Tom Allan, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Basis Networks.

For CyberCX, the deal adds a headcount of sixteen professionals, and more importantly said CyberCX’s CEO John Paitaridis, bolsters its expertise in network security and managed services. “Basis Networks’ reputation for providing highly secure network infrastructure and cloud solutions will strengthen CyberCX’s position as Australia’s leading cyber security service provider,” he said.

Paitaridis, formerly an executive at technology companies Telstra and Optus, added that it aligns with CyberCX’s strategy to offer an end-to-end offering to its clients, amid growing, and more complex and intertwined cyber threats. “Increasingly customers are looking for end-to-end solutions. CyberCX is committed to working with customers to advise, build, implement and manage security solutions, and supporting them through the journey.”

According to a recent study from BDO and AusCERT, Australian companies are rapidly ramping up their cyber security efforts in light of an increasing shift to digital ways of working. “The sector is poised for exponential sector in Australia. This presents a significant opportunity for CyberCX.”
