Peter Burns new head of Accenture’s financial services division
Accenture has elevated recent recruit Peter Burns to head of its Australian financial services division.
Peter Burns has been with Accenture for less than half a year, having joined the global consulting and technology giant from Strategy&, where he was a partner. Burns was a lifelong Strategy& member, previously spending over two decades at Booz & Company, where he among others was a member of the Board of Directors and the deal team that drove the transaction with PwC.
Based out of Accenture’s Sydney office, Burns now leads Accenture’s financial services division, which serves clients across the retail banking, wholesale/ institutional banking, wealth management, insurance, regulators and fintech segments.
The Senior Managing Director brings close to three decades of advisory experience to the role. He has worked with business leaders throughout Australia, Asia Pacific and the UK on corporate strategy, mergers & acquisitions and business model transformation.
His track record includes several leadership roles in financial services. At Strategy&, Burns latterly was the regional head of its financial services business, and global head of its banking and capital markets practice.
Peter Burns holds a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School where he graduated with high distinction and was elected a George F. Baker Scholar and Bachelor Degree in Commerce from Bond University.
The appointment comes shortly after the revelation that the NAB has selected Accenture to help it fix long-standing compliance issues which have recently led to increased regulatory scrutiny.
