Justine Jarvinen leader of Aurecon's sustainability advisory practice
Aurecon has welcomed a new practice leader to its ranks, with Justine Jarvinen taking the reins of the firm’s growing Sustainability and Climate Change practice.
The newly created role will see Jarvinen lead the firm’s team and service offerings, including ESG strategy, transition strategy, carbon markets, decarbonisation, and physical risk and resilience.
“The development of our offering over the last 12 months has been a tremendous team effort, and Justine will undoubtedly play a key role in our continued growth,” said Paul Gleeson, a Managing Director at Aurecon.
An engineer by trade, Jarvinen brings over two decades of experience across multiple domains related to climate change, such as energy transition, sustainable business models and clean technology. She has worked across sectors including energy, engineering, utilities, not-for-profit, education and financial services.
Over the past years, Jarvinen held senior leadership roles at AGL Energy, Ampol and the University of NSW (where she is Adjunct Professor). She also has experience as a non-executive director with organisations in varying sectors.
“We’re in a critical decade for sustainability and climate change, and transformation must occur. It’s an exciting time for us to harness all the expertise we have at Aurecon through integration and take a proactive approach to building new opportunities that will make a real impact,” said Jarvinen on her new challenge.
“Almost all sectors today have their sustainability on their agenda. While the energy sector is one of our biggest levers to create significant impact on future climate change, we can’t afford to leave any sectors behind if we seek to create a sustainable future for all.”
Jarvinen is based in Sydney. Although she is focused on the Australian market, she will collaborate with Aurecon teams across Asia Pacific to leverage cross-border sustainability opportunities for clients.
