Synergy Group continues to grow senior leadership team
The senior leadership team at Canberra-based consultancy Synergy continues to grow internally and through recruitment, with three new executive directors and a chief financial officer appointed.
Canberra-based consultancy Synergy Group has made close to two dozen end-of-year-promotions, including David Lim, Kerry Markoulli, and Leanne Halley as executive directors. Former Australian Maritime Safety Authority executive Satish Kumar has meanwhile joined as Synergy Group’s new CFO.
Reflecting on the promotions, chief executive officer Antonia Marzulli said: “We would like to congratulate our 23 Synergites who have been promoted across the firm and welcome David, Kerry and Leanne to our leadership team. We thank them for their ongoing contribution to Synergy Group’ success.”
A self-described data nerd, David Lim joined Synergy Group as a senior manager at the beginning of last year following an 18-month data science contract with the Australian government. Previously, he spent close to six years in EY’s Actuarial Services Government and Public Sector team in Canberra, having earlier completed an internship at PwC.
Lim specialises in statistical analysis and modelling in support of strategy transformations.
Kerry Markoulli has been a senior member of Synergy Group’s Change Management and Program Management team since the middle of last year, supporting the Department of Finance among other federal departments with strategy and implementation projects.
Markoulli has a previous public service record spanning more than two decades, including lengthy stints with the Department of Heath and finance department.
Leanne Halley has been with Synergy Group since the start of last year, having previously worked for two decades as an independent consultant to a range of government agencies.
A financial accountant with 20+ years of experience, Halley has assisted CFOs within the public service with finance transformation, business process improvement and the implementation of financial systems.
In addition to its senior promotions, Synergy Group has recruited Satish Kumar as its new Chief Financial Officer. Kumar joins after five years in the CFO role at the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, before which he spent close to a decade at Indigenous Business Australia, including as CFO and general manager of strategy and policy. He also previously spent time with Macquarie Group in Sydney.
Leadership changes
As the firm continues to grow (adding some 150 new team members across 2022), Synergy Group has undergone a significant leadership overhaul over the past twelve months, kicking off with the appointment of Antonia Marzulli as its new CEO. More recently, ex-Accenture and IBM leader Lee Rose came on board as Chief Operations Oficer, while Lucille Halloran and Martin Bowles were last month appointed as independent directors to the firm’s revamped board.
