TSA appoints Glenn Thornton as General Manager for Northern NSW
TSA has appointed Glenn Thornton as its General Manager for Northern New South Wales.
Glenn Thornton brings over three decades of experience running projects and organisations in the Hunter region and across Australia to the international project management consultancy.
Based out of Newcastle, Thornton will lead TSA’s portfolio of projects in the region, as well as its Northern New South Wales (NSW) growth agenda and operations. “The appointment of Glenn strengthens our commitment to growing TSA’s presence in Northern NSW,” said Regional General Manager of NSW, Marianne Foley.
Thornton most recently worked at Port of Newcastle as Executive Manager of Projects & Assets. In the role, he built and led a team to deliver a program of $200 million of projects.
He was involved in the master planning phase for the proposed Deepwater Container Terminal, valued at $2.4 billion, and worked on the implementation of a fully integrated Project Management System and Asset Management Systems across 954 hectares of Port of Newcastle land split across five strategic precincts.
Prior to that, Thornton spent over fifteen years at engineering group WSP, latterly holding the roles of Director of the Advisory division in Australia, and Regional Director for NSW. Earlier, he held leadership roles in industry.
During his career, he gained extensive experience in water infrastructure, energy, hydrogen, smart cities, community consultation, rail and logistics, public transport and more.
Notable projects under his belt include: working with Hunter Water on a six-year program to upgrade water infrastructure throughout the Hunter, working with the City of Newcastle on implementing its smart city strategy, supporting the City of Auckland with a hydrogen buses network benchmarking study, and supporting the roll-out of the Newcastle Light Rail, Hunter Expressway and Wagga Wagga Intermodal public transport projects.
Foley: “Glenn is experienced, passionate about the region and will be a great leader for the team. Our clients want to hear more from us in the area to help with the transition to a new economy as well as delivering infrastructure for the residents of Northern NSW, and Glenn is someone who can help them.”
