Australian technology consultancy Oreta expands into the Middle East
Melbourne-based technology consultancy Oreta has expanded to the Middle East after forging an alliance with the UAE branch of Grant Thornton, with some of the firm’s key leaders set to relocate.
Established in 2015, Oreta provides public and private sector clients with AI, cloud, and cybersecurity advisory and services, and has since its founding completed projects for more than 200 Australian organisations.
Now the firm is branching out, strategically teaming up with Grant Thornton in the UAE as the first step in its global ambitions, with some of its key leaders set to move to the region and the establishment of a local office currently in the works.
“We aim to bring our expertise to the UAE market and the partnership with Grant Thornton provides the perfect platform to combine our strengths,” stated Oreta managing director and co-founder Sachin Verma. “Together, we can scale our services and deliver exceptional value to Grant Thornton’s regional customers, particularly in the areas of AI, cloud and security.”
Prior to establishing Oreta, Verma worked in a senior leadership role at Telstra alongside fellow co-founder Rajitha Rajasingham, the former having previously spent five years at Infosys and then time at SMS Management & Technology (bought by ASG (now NRI) in 2017) and the latter who kicked off her career with more than a decade at Accenture in Australia, the UK and Europe.
Meanwhile, Grant Thornton’s long-serving CEO in the UAE, Hisham Farouk, said the partnership would help the accounting and consulting firm better serve its business clients in navigating the latest digital revolution in line with the National AI Strategy 2031, which is part of the Emirates’ bold transformation agenda to move away from a reliance on natural resources.
“The rapid pace of technological change, especially in regions like the UAE, calls for robust and scalable infrastructure solutions,” Farouk stated. “This partnership will help us meet the evolving technology needs of businesses and help them gain a competitive edge and accelerate innovation, as AI has the potential to steer organisations toward delivering exceptional outcomes.”
Farouk was present at a roof-top event in Dubai to celebrate the new partnership alongside Verma and Rajasingham and more than 50 local executives, who together shared their insights, challenges, and ambitions for the region’s digital future. Oreta said the occasion and local momentum demonstrated the exact reason it chose Dubai as the first stop on its next growth chapter.
