V2 AI expands into Western Australia with a new office in Perth

Technology consultancy V2 AI has now officially expanded into Western Australia with a new office in Perth, with Richard Allen and Derek Bingham recruited as a local partner and director.

Bingham joins V2 after the past decade at Amazon Web Services, most recently as a global account manager, and earlier time spent in sales roles at NTT Data and IBM, while Bingham, a software engineer, likewise brings an AWS background.

The new office in Perth, which will naturally focus on meeting the growing demand for AI expertise and services in the state’s energy & resources sector, joins the firm’s existing outlets in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and its recently-launched base in Singapore.

“As AI continues to reshape how Australia’s largest industries operate, establishing a local presence in Perth enables V2 AI to work more closely with customers on their transformation journeys,” said CEO Craig Howe. “AI has the potential to redefine how Australia harnesses its natural resources, improves operational efficiency, and advances toward a more sustainable energy future.”

Speaking with CRN, Howe noted some of the ways local energy & resources sector clients are looking to AI to boost their productivity and operations, including for safety improvements, the discovery of new sites, predictive maintenance, supply chain enhancements, and environmental sustainability, but governance remains of upmost concern in such highly-regulated industries.

“Organisations are grappling with how to govern AI across hundreds or even thousands of users, multiple models, and increasingly autonomous agents,” Howe told the publication. “Models can access information they shouldn’t, generate inconsistent outputs, or drift over time. In industries like financial services, energy, telecommunications and government, those risks can’t be tolerated.”

Richard Allen

Allen altogether brings over two decades worth of IT industry experience as V2 AI’s latest senior recruit. Prior to his decade with AWS, he spent five years as a senior account manager with NTT Data, with both roles based in Perth supporting clients including those in the resources, construction, and agriculture sectors with AI and cloud adoption and large‑scale digital programs.

“A lot of enterprises are past the experimentation phase and asking harder questions about how to industrialise AI safely and at scale, embedding intelligence into how they operate rather than bolting it on as another pilot,” Allen said. “That’s exactly the problem I want to spend my time solving, and so I couldn’t be more excited to tackle it with this incredibly talented team at V2 AI.”
