Atturra acquires OpenText SAP specialist Chrome Consulting
Acquisition-hungry tech services and consulting firm Atturra has struck again, picking up Melbourne-based enterprise content management (ECM) specialist Chrome Consulting.
Described by Atturra as the largest consultancy in the A/NZ region specialised in the deployment of OpenText in a SAP context, Chrome was founded in 2014 and has a team of around two dozen employees listed on LinkedIn.
The deal, made through Atturra subsidiary Anatas for an initial $5 million in cash and shares, is expected to close toward the end of next month and will boost the firm’s capabilities in the “important and growing” segment.
“This is yet another exciting acquisition that makes us a true market leader in ECM in Australia,” stated Atturra CEO Stephen Kowal. “Chrome’s core offerings and its industry solutions strengthen our portfolio, and we see significant upside in the potential to expand into enterprise solutions. The synergies between our service offerings and cultural alignment are very strong.”
A former recipient of SAP’s A/NZ partner of the year award for solutions extensions, Atturra cited Chrome’s impressive track record in assisting SAP customers across industries with their S/4 HANA data optimisation, decommissioning and transformation journeys through end-to-end ECM service offerings covering strategic advisory, implementation and ongoing support.
The firm was established in Melbourne in 2014 by Athol Hill alongside fellow director Daniel Jewell, with current CEO Mark Frear coming on board via SAP four years in. The leadership trio boast more than eight decades of combined international IT industry experience predominantly focused on the SAP and ECM space, and were supported in the sale by SCD Advisory.
“This is an exciting move for Chrome,” stated Frear. “Atturra brings a similar partner-friendly attitude and culture while adding complementary capabilities in service delivery managed support and a different customer base. Combined, the acquisition will allow us all to tackle the significant opportunities ahead and address the SAP ecosystem’s needs more effectively.”
Now pulling in annual revenues pushing the $250 mark, Atturra has made more than a half a dozen acquisitions since listing on the ASX in 2022 following its rebrand from FTS Group the year prior, including management consultancy Exent in July. The firm isn’t however done just yet, with Atturra raising funds for further inorganic growth and confirmed to be in talks with New Zealand’s Plan B.
