Deloitte appoints four new members to executive team
Ahead of officially taking up the top role early next year, incoming Deloitte Australia CEO Joanne Gorton has selected her new executive team, which includes four new members and six departures.
Among the new faces, Dave Rodgers takes on Gorton’s former role as head of audit & assurance, while Joel Lipman, Ian Turner, and Alan Marshall also join Deloitte’s slimmed-down national executive in newly-appointed roles.
Meanwhile, Gorton will be supported in her new role by Dave McCarthy, who switches from head of financial advisory to COO, with Pip Dexter, Meghan Speers, Sneza Pelusi, and Paul Rehder also remaining as members of the executive.
Dave Rodgers
Based out of Brisbane, Rodgers takes on the lead audit & assurance role left vacant by Gorton’s ascension, heading a nationwide team of more than 3,000 professionals who presently generate $500 million in annual revenues. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2008, and being made partner in 2013, Rodgers spent seven years between KPMG and Grant Thornton in Australia and the UK.
Joel Lipman
Currently leading Deloitte’s financial services sector business out of Melbourne covering banking, insurance, and superannuation, Lipman will become chief growth officer after joining the Big Four firm in 2010 and being admitted to the partnership three years later. He is described by the AFR as among Deloitte’s next generation of tech-focused leaders, alongside Marshall.
Alan Marshall
Kicking off his career at Arthur Andersen, Marshall returned for his second stint at Deloitte in 2012, and has since served as national analytics & cognitive leader, strategy, AI & transformation lead, and most recently as head of climate & engineering. Based out of Perth and a partner since 2014, he is set to join the national executive as head of technology & transformation.
Ian Turner
A two-decade Deloitte veteran, Turner currently serves as national M&A leader from his base in Sydney, and will now become head of strategy, risk and transactions Ian Turner. In addition to assisting clients on transactions, Turner also serves as global ‘future of M&A’, leader, working with international member firms to embed data analytics into their corporate finance offerings.
The executive team
In addition to Gorton and McCarthy, four other existing executive members will retain their seats, including current chief growth officer Paul Rehder, who looks to be switching to chief strategy and transformation officer as well as head of consulting. Chief people officer Pip Dexter, chief risk officer Sneza Pelusi, and Meghan Speers, head of tax and legal continue in their current roles.
According to the AFR, current CEO Adam Powick is set to retire from Deloitte after more than three decades, with consulting lead Ellen Derrick and chief transformation officer Dennis Krallis among those stepping down and switching roles. The others include chief commercial and operating officers Peter Forrester and Andrew Griffiths, and industries lead Vanessa Matthijssen.
