Oliver Wyman adds veteran Tim Jackson to government advisory team

Oliver Wyman has further bolstered its new government consulting practice with another plum recruit: former Strategy& global public sector leader Tim Jackson.

Tim Jackson crosses to Oliver Wyman after spending the past year as an executive at public sector ‘start-up’ Scyne Advisory, before which he led Strategy&’s global government and public sector consulting team and served as local chairman.

His recruitment represents another massive coup for the firm, which also recently added former Queensland Treasury chief Jim Murphy as a senior advisor, along with partner recruit Louise Portelli and the promotion of Matt Murphy.

Jackson jumps ship after three and a half decades at Strategy& and its predecessors, originally joining Booz Allen Hamilton after completing a science degree at UNSW back in 1989. The private sector consulting arm Booz & Company broke off in 2008, before being picked up by PwC and renamed Strategy& five years later. Jackson was there throughout, and then went through the PwC transition to Scyne Advisory.

By 2002, Jackson was a managing director for Booz & Company’s business in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia, and became regional chairman upon its transition to Strategy&. He then featured as a core transition leader at Scyne Advisory.

Now, he joins former Australian Strategy& leader James Twaddle, alongside fellow Booz veterans Michael Thompson and Rony Azzi in establishing Oliver Wyman’s Canberra business, officially titled its “government & public institutions practice”, which has already boosted its headcount to more than two dozen professionals, including another recent heavyweight recruit in Jim Murphy.
