Baringa adds Geri McMahon and Melanie Sykes to Financial Services practice

Global management consultancy Baringa has strengthened its Australian team with two partner hires: Geri McMahon and Melanie Sykes.
Both new partners join the firm’s Financial Services practice, bringing extensive experience in the sector to Baringa, gained both in industry and as a consultant. “These strategic partner hires reflect our commitment to expanding our presence in the Australian market,” said Australia Country Lead, Peter Sherry.
Geri McMahon joins Baringa from KPMG, where she was the National ESG Leader for Financial Services and the Global ESG Lead for Wealth and Asset Management. Her career has spanned banking, investment management, and consulting, including five years as Co-Head of Responsible Investment at Aon in the UK. At Baringa, she now leads the Climate & Sustainability practice in Australia.
Melanie Sykes joins the management consultancy from Deloitte, where she was a member of the Technology Risk Advisory practice. She has over 20 years of experience working both within and alongside Australia’s largest financial institutions, with extensive expertise in digital and technology risk and regulatory compliance.
One of the firm’s powerhouse sectors alongside energy, Baringa has in recent months been building out its financial services team in Australia to meet demand. “The wealth of industry experience and deep knowledge of the Australian market that Gari and Melanie bring will be instrumental in creating a lasting impact with our financial service sector clients,” Sherry stated.
Baringa launched its Australian business in 2018. The UK-headquartered firm has around 1,300 staff working from 15 offices worldwide.
