Baringa appoints energy expert Tony Histon to Australian partnership
Global management consulting firm Baringa continues to build up its senior expertise in Australia, bringing in PwC’s former utilities industry leader Tony Histon as a partner in its Sydney office.
Histon adds close to two and a half decades worth of energy industry advisory experience to Baringa, the majority of that spent in senior regional roles at Accenture, before then being poached by Strategy& as a partner in late 2022.
Histon’s recruitment follows the recent addition of former Accenture A/NZ utilities practice leader Mayur Bhaskar to Baringa’s energy & resources team, one of its three main areas of local focus alongside financial services and government.

Bhaskar and Histon spent a decade together at Accenture all up, the latter who joined the firm in 2008 as network enabled solutions consulting lead for Australia, Southeast Asia & Korea after starting his career as an engineer at Energy Australia. He was later appointed managing director of the firm’s transmission & distribution practice across the Asia Pacific, Africa and Middle East.
Strategy& came knocking in 2022, with Histon described by the AFR at the time as an ‘energy transition star’. He has since led Strategy&’s utilities transformation & deals capability and more recently PwC’s Australian utilities industry practice, working with clients on asset management, operating models, acquisition strategy, product go-to-market, and technology implementations.

In addition to Histon and Bhaskar, other members of Baringa’s local energy practice partnership include Australia leader Peter Sherry, Anne Bailey, and Przemek Luczynski, who joined the firm from Ernst & Young in 2024. The London-headquartered firm, which recently saw David Hatcher take over as global managing partner, first set up shop in Australia with an office in Sydney in 2018.
