Scott Grigg tapped to lead unified Synechron business in Australia

Global business consultancy Synechron has appointed Scott Grigg as country managing director for its newly-unified Australian advisory business, and is now embarking on a recruitment spree.

The New York headquartered firm, which is focused on the financial services sector, has been building up its Australian footprint over the past two years following its earlier purchase of local payments consultancy Attra in 2020.

Since then, Synechron has launched an office in Sydney, picked up cloud specialist iGreenData in Melbourne, and then added Adelaide-based sister consultancies Chamonix IT and Exposé, with the trio of acquisitions now unified under the one brand.

“Australia is one of the most dynamic and competitive consulting markets in the world,” said Synechron co-founder and CEO Faisal Husain. “Thanks to the addition of the Chamonix IT, Exposé, and iGreenData teams, we are now perfectly placed to help Australian organisations not just embrace the future, but to lead from the front.”

Leading the unified business will be Scott Grigg, a former South Australia state director for Kloud Solutions, which has since become a part of Telstra Purple, and business development manager at DWS, which was acquired by HLCTech in 2020. He co-founded Chamonix in 2010, with Exposé then set up six years later, and has served as a director of both since.

“This is an exciting moment that brings together incredible people, deep local expertise, and the scale of a global organisation,” Grigg said. “I’m proud to step into the role of country managing director, helping lead our unified business as we support some of Australia’s most complex digital transformations across financial services, government and enterprise.”

Notably, Grigg also said the firm is now looking beyond its traditional focus on the financial services space, including government, defence, healthcare, utilities and education. “Synechron has a very long and proud history in banking and finance, but part of the strategy that they’ve employed in acquiring businesses like ours is to branch out from that into other industries.”

Recruitment drive

To support its plans for rapid local expansion, the firm said it was aiming to hire more that 100 specialists in the first half of the year alone, who will join a claimed team of 1,500-plus professionals spread across Australia, including in further offices in Brisbane and Canberra. Globally, Synechron has a headcount upwards of 16,500, now based in 21 countries worldwide.

Joining Grigg as members of Synechron’s Australian leadership team are Chamonix and Exposé co-founder Kelly Drewett as managing director for enterprise, another Exposé original Etienne Oosthuysen as chief technology officer, iGreenData leader Max Sundaram as managing director for banking, financial services and insurance, and Synechron import Tim Coates as head of practices.

“Globally, Synechron is synonymous with innovation, transformation, and complex project delivery,” Grigg concluded. “Pairing our on-the-ground experience and expertise with Synechron’s proprietary technology and accelerators has driven significant growth so far. As we move forward as one Synechron in the Australian market, we expect this to accelerate.”
