WE Buchan rebrands as WE Communications Australia
WE Buchan – the Australian arm of global public relations and communications firm WE Communications – has rebranded as WE Communications Australia. The move coincides with a growth milestone for the firm – across its two offices, WE Communications now has a team of over 50 professionals.
WE Buchan operates through offices in Melbourne and Sydney, offering a broad range of consulting services. The firm began in 1985 as Buchan Consulting, offering advisory support with business strategy, corporate & financial communications, public policy, investor communications, digital & social solutions and a range of other areas.
In 2007, the firm began a partnership with WE Communications to support clients across the Australian market. The partnership leveraged the best of Buchan Consulting’s local network and WE Communications’ international pool of resources to deliver solutions for a number of years.
Nearly a decade later, We Communications consolidated the relationship by acquiring a majority stake in Buchan Consulting. Since then, the unified outfit has been operating as WE Buchan. Now, the firm has transitioned to the WE Communications Australia brand.
Gemma Hudson, who is the Chief Executive Office of WE Buchan, will continue at the helm of the firm after the rebranding. She works closely with Rebecca Wilson, who in March this year was appointed to Executive Vice President for Australia and Singapore.
Commenting on the rebranding, Hudson said, “Buchan and WE first came together because of our shared values and independent proposition and over the years, it’s proven to be a dynamic relationship for both our team and clients. Now part of a global mid-sized independent network, the agency is well positioned to enter the next chapter of our evolution, support some of the greatest companies in Australia and globally achieve their business objectives.”
This is the second marketing firm to announce its rebranding in Australia this month. Direction First, which has been operating as InSites Consulting’s Australia wing for a number of years, adopted the InSites Consulting Australia brand at the start of this month. The moves come as branding and marketing are becoming increasingly central priorities for Australia’s business environment.
Commenting on the move, Global Chief Operating Officer of WE Communications Kass Sells said, “While our name has changed, what remains the same are our team of award-winning communicators and commitment to deliver exceptional work that drives positive action. We are excited about the next chapter of WE in Australia as we continue to come together as ‘One WE’ around the globe.”
