UST establishes digital innovation lab in Melbourne Connect
Global digital transformation company UST has launched its first Innovation Lab in Australia at Melbourne Connect.
Having been active in Australia for over seven years, UST has doubled down on its domestic ambitions with the launch of a new Innovation Lab – the firm’s eighth worldwide.
“We have identified Australia as a growth region, so we’re investing heavily in our lab and bringing in additional senior consultants and overall technical expertise to ensure we have the local capabilities required,” said Matthew McCormack, Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand at UST.
Founded over two decades ago, UST is a consulting firm and services provider specialised in digital and technology. The firm has over 30,000 employees in 30 countries, and is headquartered in the United States.
Complementing its standard activities, “the lab is more than a hub. It represents a way of working that puts people, not technology, at the heart of innovation, which we will use to collaboratively solve the challenges that Australian organisations are facing,” explained Agnes Misiurny, Consulting Director for Innovation at UST.
UST’s other labs are the US, the UK, India (two labs), Malaysia, Israel and Spain. “Our labs bring together clients and our experts to drive digital innovation, using proprietary frameworks, products and platforms, and an ecosystem of experts including commercial and academic partners.”
In Melbourne, the lab has been established at University of Melbourne’s innovation precinct, Melbourne Connect, “to capitalise on the community created through co-location of industry, research and start-ups,” explained Misiurny.
“We are delighted that UST has set up in Melbourne – it’s another win for our burgeoning tech sector and for jobs,” said Tim Pallas, Treasurer and Minister for Economic Development, Victoria State Government. “Global digital tech companies come to Victoria because we have the skilled workforce, the education and training infrastructure and the business environment they need to succeed.”
Earlier this year, counterpart Infosys also picked Melbourne as its hub for a new innovation lab.
