Deloitte named as Paralympics Australia's digital transformation partner
Deloitte continues to deepen its ties with the global Olympic movement, most recently being named as the official digital transformation partner of Paralympics Australia.
Deloitte will focus on the implementation of an in-house sports CRM solution, which forms part of the business transformation pillar of Paralympics Australia’s long-term strategic plan developed with the support of Monitor Deloitte.
Deloitte signed on as a top-tier Worldwide Olympic Partner in 2022, with its Australian branch having since provided support for the country’s current and former Olympians, including a number of Paris aspirants who also work at the firm.
“Supporting Paralympics Australia has been a high priority for us given our worldwide management consulting partnership with the Olympic and Paralympic movements,” stated recently-installed Deloitte Australia chair John Greig, who also serves as the firm’s lead client service partner for the 2032 Brisbane Games – which is in turn being delivered by former Deloitte CEO Cindy Hook.
Commencing at the end of August, Australia’s paralympics contingent in Paris will be led by triple gold-medallist and inspirational paracanoeist Curtis McGrath, who turned to the sport after losing both of his legs while serving in Afghanistan. McGrath will co-captain the team alongside veteran wheelchair sprinter Angie Ballard, while taking a break from his other role as an advisor at Deloitte.
“Having worked with Deloitte’s sports practice to develop our IMAGINE strategy, we are thrilled to now progress to this new phase of implementation which will provide significant capability uplift to our core business processes, and importantly our stakeholder, supporter and fan management,” said Paralympics Australia’s interim chief executive Cameron Murray.
McGrath is one of six local members of ‘Team Deloitte’, a two dozen-strong global squad of elite athletes who have been striving for Olympic qualification while juggling a professional services career at the firm. Others who have made the cut include Perth-based senior consultant Aran Zalewski in the men’s hockey, and Tokyo rowing gold-medal winning analyst Alexander Purnell.
“Helping Paralympics Australia deliver on their strategy is an important part of ensuring a strong foundation of support for our athletes as they prepare to represent Australia in Paris,” continued Greig, with Deloitte sports practice lead partner Sandra Sweeney adding; “We’re pleased to be able to support Paralympics Australia at a time when the eyes of the world will be on our athletes.”
