RSM strengthens IT infrastructure partnership with Macquarie Telecom
RSM has extended and expanded its partnership with Macquarie Telecom, with the aim to enhance its digital communications across regional Australia.
The collaboration, which initially began in 2019, has evolved into a comprehensive alliance that now encompasses both SD-WAN network and voice services.
The partnership has been pivotal in supporting RSM’s expansive growth across its 32 locations, including significant operations in regional Australia. By implementing cutting-edge SD-WAN technology, RSM has witnessed a transformation in network performance and user experience.
The success led to an initial expansion of the partnership in 2021, when SIP trunking was included in the scope. SIP trunking allows telephone calls to be made over the internet.
Founded over a century ago in Australia, RSM has grown from a modest husband-and-wife partnership into a national powerhouse with over 1,900 professionals. While its roots lie in accounting, the firm has diversified into various advisory services, including security and privacy, technology consulting, data analytics, sustainability, and management consulting.
Despite its broadening scope, RSM has maintained a strong commitment to serving regional Australia with the same level of professionalism as its metropolitan counterparts.
Network infrastructure
Another upgrade Macquarie Telecom and RSM worked on was the upgrade of the network infrastructure. Prior to the upgrade, RSM faced challenges with its previous MPLS network, which fell short in terms of resiliency, capacity, and cost-effectiveness. It was this inadequacy, along with the high cost and challenging relationships with the previous provider, that prompted RSM to seek out a more reliable, cost-effective, and customer-focused solution.
After a rigorous selection process, Macquarie Telecom was selected as the partner. The deployment of Macquarie Telecom’s SD-WAN solution commenced in late 2019, just before the global disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the impact of the pandemic, Macquarie Telecom’s proactive and responsive approach ensured the seamless completion of the roll-out by mid-2020.
The enhanced network performance and reliability were so impressive that RSM decided to deepen the partnership.
“SD-WAN has completely transformed the service we can provide our clients, from Bunbury to Ballarat and everywhere in between,” noted Andrew Bracetti, IT Manager at RSM. “Previously, we faced limited bandwidth and frequent outages, especially in our regional offices. With the new technology, we’ve increased capacity and resiliency, reducing IT outages, and significantly improving network reliability.”
The partnership is underpinned by a shared commitment to customer experience, said Aaron Tighe, Western Australia State Manager at Macquarie Telecom. “RSM is deeply committed to maintaining world-class customer service. At Macquarie, we seek to make a difference in markets that are overcharged and underserved, with customer experience magic at the centre. It is a privilege to support RSM as the company excels in a challenging market.”
Looking ahead, RSM plans to continue its expansion into regional areas, with a recent practice established in Gosford and others on the horizon. “The ongoing collaboration with Macquarie Telecom will be crucial in providing the technological foundation necessary for our teams to explore new opportunities and enhance our service offerings,” Bracetti concluded.
