Adam Kirkwood-Scott takes over as William Buck boss in Victoria

Accounting and advisory firm William Buck has appointed Adam Kirkwood-Scott as its new managing partner for Victoria – continuing a significant nation-wide leadership transition.
Kirkwood-Scott joined William Buck as a partner in 2011, and now boasts more than three decades of professional experience. He replaces Lindsay Holloway, who becomes executive chair after 18 years in the managing partner role.
Since the middle of last year, William Buck’s branches in New South Wales, Western Australia, and South Australia have all carried out handovers at the top, the predecessors’ tenures all ranging from between close to two decades to more than three.
“Adam has consistently demonstrated his alignment with our William Buck values and commitment to our clients and our firm. His outstanding leadership skills and demonstrated experience in driving business growth make Adam the right person to lead William Buck Victoria into the future,” stated Holloway, who added that the pair would now work closely together to ensure a smooth transition.
Holloway transitions into the newly-created executive chair role after leading William Buck as managing director in Melbourne since 2006, including during the reestablishment of the local branch after previous defections. His association with the firm goes back further still, as a director of local merger partner Webb Group and predecessor Callaway & Hecht for over a decade and a half.
“I would like to thank Lindsay for his remarkable contribution to leading the team over the last 18 years and look forward to our continuing relationship,” Kirkwood-Scott said upon his appointment. “I would also like to share my deep appreciation for the trust the partners have placed in me, and am confident that we will continue to build upon the strong foundation which has been laid.”
Since joining William Buck, Kirkwood-Scott has focused on providing specialist tax advisory to SME clients. In addition to his professional experience, he also serves as a board member of the Victorian Jockeys’ Association and was former vice president of the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), the latter which has a long-running partnership with William Buck.
In a string of regional leadership transitions, Kirkwood-Scott follows Greg Travers (NSW), Conley Manifis (WA), and Adrian Chugg (SA), who have all taken over from company stalwarts since last July, while NZ managing director Darren Wright also stepped up at the start of last year. Of the remaining old guard, Queensland boss Junaide Latif has only been in the role since 2017.
