Trivandi expands into Australian market and accelerates with Cutler deal

Major events consultancy Trivandi has expanded into the Australian market and rapidly doubled down on its Oz ambitions with the acquisition of Cutler Synthesized Projects.

In March, Trivandi revealed that it has successfully opened for business in Australia, with its Brisbane office complementing its footprint in London, Dubai, and Riyadh. The Australian team provides advisory, design, production and delivery services to major events, venues, sport and destinations, serving the local market and the broader Asia Pacific region.

“With its rich history of world-class events, the famous Aussie friendly welcome and hospitality, and its focus on sustainability, choosing Australia as the next location in our global investment strategy was an obvious choice. We are committed to bring Trivandi’s reputation for creating unforgettable experiences delivered with sustainable, lasting impact to the Australian market,” said James Bulley, CEO of Trivandi.

Rob Nelson, Regional Director of Australia and APAC added: “Trivandi will provide fresh insights for Australian projects, underscored by sustainability and enhanced by a guest experience mindset.”

Trivandi’s Brisbane-based team has since its launch hit the ground running, winning a number of prestigious mandates. Project wins include managing the delivery of the Australia pavilion at the upcoming Expo 2025 Osaka, and a technical review for a proposed Brisbane 2032 Olympic venue.

Cutler Synthesized Projects

To accelerate the local growth, Trivandi this morning announced the acquisition of Cutler Synthesized Projects, an event company with experience across multiple Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups and international sporting events.

Fellow Brisbane-based Cutler Synthesized Projects specialises in overlay – creating temporary structures and services for major events that minimise waste, reduce carbon footprints and prioritise legacy. The boutique has since its inception in 2010 delivered overlay solutions for global sporting events including the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Paris 2024 Olympics, and the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

At present, the Cutler Synthesized Projects is providing its expertise to both the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles and the 2032 edition in Brisbane (which according to KPMG will add up to $17 billion to Australia’s economy).

“Cutler Synthesized Projects are global leaders in event overlay and temporary structures and we are thrilled to welcome them into Trivandi,” said Bulley.

“This is a pivotal moment for Trivandi as we continue to evolve with the changing needs of our industry, which requires more sustainable, creative and impactful ways to deliver major events. This acquisition strengthens our ability to meet that challenge – combining overlay capabilities with our teams, we can deliver more creative, efficient and sustainable solutions.”

Mark Cutler, founder and managing director of Cutler Synthesized Projects, will join Trivandi as Global Director of Overlay. He said: “Our combined expertise will unlock new potential in creating more innovative and sustainable temporary infrastructure solutions that deliver meaningful impact, and help clients navigate the evolving challenges of major event delivery.”

Globally, Trivandi has a team of more than 260 professionals and a network of over 2,000 associates. The Australian deal comes months after the company bought The Bulb in the United Kingdom.
