SW Accountants & Advisors has recruited Matthew Hingeley as a partner in its audit and advisory division in Perth – marking Hingeley’s forth partnership stint at a major accounting-origin professional services firm.

Hingeley crosses to SW Accountants & Advisors after the past six and a half years at KPMG, before which he also spent more than a half a decade as a partner at each of Grant Thornton and BDO after starting out at Horwath.

Hingeley has served a variety of clients across his two-and-a-half decade career, including those operating in the automotive, energy & resources, manufacturing, consumer products, agribusiness and non-for-profit sectors.

“We are delighted to welcome Matthew to SW,” said national CEO Duane Rogers. “His extensive experience and leadership qualities will undoubtedly strengthen our firm and enhance our ability to deliver exceptional service to our clients. Matthew’s appointment also reflects our ongoing commitment to attracting outstanding talent to support our growing practice.”

An accounting graduate of Curtin University, Hingeley spent the first eight and a half years of his career rising to associate director at Horwath (now Crowe), before then joining BDO and making partner. That was followed by six and half years as a partner at both Grant Thornton including time spent in Melbourne and then at KPMG back home in Perth.

As well as having gained insights at both the Big Four and Australia’s top-level mid-tier firms, SW said that his dual east and west coast experience has granted Hingeley with a deep understanding of the market dynamics of both regions, which would be instrumental in supporting SW’s ambitious national growth strategy.

Additionally, Hingeley has proven record of serving clients of various types and sizes, from some of the country’s largest family-owned businesses through to multinational organisations, not-for-profits, and ASX listed companies – including, SW noted, as the lead audit partner on one of the country’s largest IPOs executed last year.

Hingley said one major draw-card was the significant growth opportunity he saw for SW in the Western Australian market; “SW offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to its future direction while continuing to grow professionally in a dynamic, expanding environment, and I was attracted to the genuine people-focused culture with clear leadership opportunities and strong strategic vision.”

Hingley’s recruitment edges SW ever-closer to the 50 partner-mark, with the now 90 year-old firm setting its sights on becoming one of the country’s top 20 organisations of its kind through additions such as Kreston Stanley Williamson in Sydney and an expanded senior leadership team.
