McGrathNicol promotes five new directors across offices

National turnaround and restructuring consultancy McGrathNicol has made its latest round of mid-year promotions, including five new directors in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

Angus Boyd and Jesse Pearce, respectively members of McGrathNicol’s forensics and cyber teams, have been elevated to director level in Brisbane, while Richard Woolf (restructuring), William Lu (deals, strategy & performance), and Benjamin Fittler (government advisory) take the step up in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

The five new directors were among the more than five dozen mid-year promotions across all levels of seniority made firm-wide, with McGrathNicol stating; “We believe the expertise of our people is the strength of our firm, and would like to congratulate and thank our newly-promoted professionals for their commitment to delivering enduring value for our clients.”

Angus Boyd becomes a forensics director in Brisbane after joining the firm from Deloitte as a manager in late 2020, before then being bumped to senior manager twelve months on. Prior to his four and a half years at Deloitte, Boyd gained experience following a commerce and finance bachelors at the University of Queensland through a five-year stint at boutique local accountancy Pilot Partners.

Likewise a commerce graduate, with the University of Melbourne, William Lu has been promoted to director within McGrathNicol’s deals, strategy & performance team after returning to the firm at the start of last year following an earlier five-year stint up until 2017. In between, he spent time as an M&A analyst in London and over four years in finance and corporate development roles at Cognizant acquisition Servian.

Richard Woolf, now a director in McGrathNicol’s restructuring & turnaround team in Sydney, joined the firm from Grant Thornton at the beginning of 2017, having spent more than half a decade at the mid-tier accounting and consulting firm in various restructuring and transaction advisory roles upon graduating a business and accounting degree at the University of Technology Sydney in 2014.

Benjamin Fittler and Jesse Pearce, respectively of McGrathNicol’s government and cyber divisions, become directors in Canberra and Melbourne after spending the best part of a decade and the majority of the careers at the firm. Fittler joined as a graduate in 2015, while Pearce come on board two years later after completing an IT degree with Charles Sturt.
