McGrathNicol adds five new partners to leadership team

Australian restructuring & turnaround consultancy McGrathNicol has added five new partners to its leadership team.

The new partner cohort includes Jacinta Nielsen, who has re-joined the firm in Melbourne after a stint at Deloitte, payroll expert Jeshna Sagun in Sydney, Perth-based turnaround specialist Shane Hurst, Canberra government advisor Carlo Cappuccio, and performance improvement partner Daniel Power out of Melbourne.

A jump up from its last mid-year additions, McGrathNicol’s latest partnership promotions and recruits take the 22-year-old firm’s nationwide tally to 64.

Jacinta Nielsen
A corporate recovery veteran, Nielsen returns to McGrathNicol in Melbourne after spending the past eight and a half years at Deloitte, before which she was with the firm for more than a decade following earlier stints at ANZ bank, FTI Consulting, and KPMG – the latter where she commenced her career after graduating Monash with a commerce and accounting degree in 2003.

Jeshna Sagun
Sagun has been with McGrathNicol in Sydney for the past four and a half years after joining from facility management company BGIS, with earlier time spent at PwC, Rabobank, and Westpac among other employers. She specialises in payroll, working with clients to transform and optimise their HR function across the employee life-cycle, while also addressing risk & compliance.

Shane Hurst
Hurst steps up to partner after joining McGrathNicol in Perth in 2012, before which he spent some time as an auditor in BDO’s Dublin office after graduating with an accounting degree from the University of Galway in 2005. Nowadays, Hurst focuses on supporting clients through times of financial or operational distress, especially those in the mid-market and trading in resources.

Carlo Cappuccio
Cappuccio becomes a partner in Canberra. He joined McGrathNicol as a governance & risk advisor in the Australian capital in 2023 after spending more than two decades at KPMG from graduation at ANU (in commerce, accounting, and IT). He primarily works with federal government agencies, regulators, and critical infrastructure operators on matters pertaining to risk and performance.

Daniel Power
Previously promoted to director in 2022, Power has been at McGrathNicol for almost the entirety of his decade-and-a-half career since graduating Monash with a business, accounting, and finance degree. He specialises in complex, multi-stakeholder restructurings, with extensive experience in in-depth business reviews, strategic options assessments, and distressed M&A processes.
