Four Australian members of FTI Consulting have been recognised by Who’s Who Legal as global leaders in the forensic advisory landscape.

Dawna Wright, John Batchelor (based in Melbourne) and Mark Pulvirenti (based in Sydney) have been included in Who’s Who Legal’s Global Investigations list for 2022, which recognises the world’s leading practitioners in the forensic and legal accounting space.

Sydney-based Wynand Mullins was meanwhile named a Future Leader. All four professionals are senior managing directors at FTI Consulting, which last year was named Consulting Firm of the Year by Who’s Who Legal.

Dawna Wright

Wright’s appearance on this year’s list comes as no surprise, considering the legal research organisation named her last year’s international ‘Investigations Forensic Accountant of the Year’. Previously a partner at McGrathNicol and Deloitte, Wright has been with FTI Consulting since 2014, and heads up the firm’s Australian forensic & litigation consulting practice. Who’s Who Legal have also named Wright a 2022 global elite thought leader in forensic accounting.

Having now clocked up a thirty-year audit and forensics career in Canada, the US, France and Australia, Wright is noted for specialising in the interpretation of complex data and financial information and providing expert opinions for non-financial clients, in particular lawyers and boards. One client interviewed by Who’s Who in compiling its list described Wright as “a focused, even-keeled, knowledgeable and calm expert.”

John Batchelor

A senior managing director in FTI’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment, Batchelor joined the firm in 2010 after close to a decade and a half with Ferrier Hodgson (since acquired by KPMG).

Prior to relocating back to Australia at the start of last year, Batchelor served as co-head of FTI Consulting’s Asia and the Caribbean region based out of Hong Kong, and was lauded by CEO Steven Gunby for having been instrumental in raising the firm’s regional profile.

Mark Pulvirenti

Pulvirenti has been with FTI Consulting in Sydney since early 2020, before which he led the Southern Asia and Oceania region of risk consultancy Control Risks’ Forensics and Technology practice for almost six years. He earlier served as an executive director with AlixPartners in Hong Kong, and has spent stints with Deloitte, KPMG, and RSM among others, being for the majority of his career based overseas and clocking up engagements in more than 25 countries.

According to his FTI Consulting bio, Pulvirenti specialises in financial crime advisory and investigation matters, often involving bribery and corruption, money laundering, fraud, asset misappropriation, financial statement reconstruction and asset tracing. He works closely with law firms, in-house legal counsel, chief risk and compliance officers and boards of directors on various business integrity issues and events.

Wynand Mullins

A forensic accounting expert specialising in dispute advisory, financial investigations and contentious valuations, Mullins has meanwhile been named by Who’s Who as a ‘Future Leader’, a category recognising individuals under the age of 45 who are considered outstanding members of the next generation in their fields.

Prior to joining as a senior managing director early last year, Mullins was a partner at McGrathNicol and Ferrier Hodgson.
