Independent ERP consultancy SMC has bolstered its senior team with Paul Klein, a former Deloitte Consulting partner with over 30 years of experience across IT strategy and ERP transformation.

During his over three decades at the Big Four firm, Klein grew the ranks to become one of the more senior partners in the firm’s Deloitte Digital division, which leads Deloitte’s technology advisory and implementation work.

Klein’s leadership roles included Lead Partner for Deloitte Consulting in Perth, and Lead Client Service Partner for Perth-headquartered mining and metals company South32. He retired from the partnership late 2020, and has since worked as an independent consultants and non-executive director.

Having consulted with SMC in a part-time role over the past two years, Klein has now transitioned to a permanent role, as he takes the lead of the firm’s Review & Strategise service offering. This offering focuses on the early stages of the ERP lifecycle – from strategic planning and the development of digital strategies, to business case development and early shortlisting of potential vendors and solutions.

“We are thrilled to have Paul join the SMC team on a more permanent basis”, said Jamon Johnston, Founder and CEO of SMC (formerly Solution Minds Consulting). “His vast experience and deep capabilities in technology advisory and execution will help our clients across Australia and New Zealand determine optimal strategies and roadmaps that will help them achieve their missions.”

On his appointment at SMC, Klein commented: “I am very happy to be part of a successful and growing Perth-headquartered SMC team, and to have this opportunity to help SMC clients to grow and improve their businesses, enabled by technology.”

Founded in 2006, SMC has grown into one of Australia’s leading consultancies for ERP advisory and implementation services. The firm has a headcount of around 60 staff.
