Findex makes 33 senior appointments across Australia and New Zealand

It has been a busy start to the month for accounting and advisory firm Findex, with a fresh acquisition and new joint venture announced alongside 33 senior appointments and recruits.

Recent days have seen Findex welcome the Sydney operations of MWL Financial Group into its New South Wales mix, a deal which was quickly followed up by a partnership announcement with Sydney-based brokerage Ortus Financial.

Meanwhile, Findex has made almost three dozen senior partner, partner, and associate partner appointments in 20 locations across Australia and New Zealand, including a handful of recent recruits bringing backgrounds from the Big Four.

Still, the firm was keen to highlight that three quarters of new partners were internal promotions: “These appointments highlight the strength of our local talent and recognise those who lead with impact, drive innovation, and deliver outstanding results for our clients, reflecting our continued commitment to developing and supporting the growth of our people.”

Among the appointments were three new senior partners, including business advisory professionals John Mamo of Sydney and Greg Archer in Innisfail, who have both been with Findex for almost a decade after respectively joining from Grant Thornton and Moore Stephens in 2016, with both again having also spent time at Ernst & Young during their tax and accounting careers.

Joining the pair is Richard Gregson, who recently crossed to head Crowe’s audit practice in Perth from the partnership of SW Accountants & Advisors. In a noteworthy, near four-decade international career, Gregson was also once a partner and financial services assurance leader at PwC in Russia, spending time in Vladivostok and later overseeing the firm’s national real estate practice.

Annie Uy also crosses to affiliate Crowe as an audit partner in Auckland after nearly a decade and a half at PwC, most recently as an executive director, before which she spent five years at EY’s Philippines member SGV, while fellow Findex recruit Darcy Elrick joins as a business advisory partner based in Launceston following a decade at Deloitte across two stints in Melbourne.

Another new Crowe recruit, Sean Pascoe, brings more than three decades worth of risk consulting and IT assurance to the firm in Sydney, most recently as a partner during more than a decade with BDO, before which he spent time at all of Protiviti, Ernst & Young, Andersen Consulting, and PwC in Singapore along with seven years with the Audit Office of NSW dating back to 1990.

Cybersecurity and forensics specialist Tyler Wise has also joined as a partner in Perth, while in terms of the advisory’s internal partnership promotions, Findex’s offices in regional Australia and New Zealand saw the greatest senior leadership boosts, including Michael Callander (Christchurch), Paul Walker (Hawkes Bay), and Jarrod Godfrey (Waikato) across the ditch.

Back in Oz, Bunyip-based pair Jodie Smith and Tracey Keily become partners following the firm’s addition of Greenview Accounting last year, alongside Samantha Murnane in Mildura, Sandra Wolstenholme in Dubbo, and Queensland duo Todd Parrish and Bruce Swinford in Brisbane and Toowoomba. Yogen Lal and Mel Power have also been promoted to partner in Sydney and Perth.

The following professionals have also been elevated to associate partner level:
Daniel Testa, Melbourne
Danielle O’Donnell, Ballarat
Jack Armour, Warragul
Jake Weir, Sale
Rodey James, Mildura
Melissa Brunow, Sydney
May McGarva, Toowoomba
