Fusion5 adds Applejack to further boost Netsuite expertise in Australia

IT consultancy Fusion5 has made its second acquisition of the month following the addition of Kiwi CX advisory Pocket Square, this time picking up Queensland-based NetSuite specialist Applejack.

Described as one of Australia’s longest-running NetSuite partners, Applejack was established in Brisbane in 2004 by managing director Stuart Mallet, who now joins Fusion5 as an engagement manager alongside a small team.

“We’re delighted to add their skills and expertise to our own, build our presence in Brisbane, and offer a wide range of transformation services to its customers from under the one roof,” said Fusion5’s Australia CEO Sven Martin.

Applejack, which claims to have one of the most NetSuite-certified teams in the Asia Pacific region, supports clients across sectors operating in areas such as manufacturing, distribution, e-commerce and business services with their cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) needs, from development and implementation through to optimisation and training.

“Becoming part of Fusion5 is an exciting move for both our team and our customers,” Mallet said. “It’s an opportunity for our consultants to work on a wider range of projects, and for our customers to leverage Fusion5’s extensive investment in their data, security, AI, and integration capabilities.”

That investment includes Fusion5’s previous purchase of NetSuite competitor Liberate I.T., now one of its more than a half a dozen acquisitions completed since 2023, including most recently New Zealand Shopify partner Pocket Square earlier this month, with the firm’s M&A activity having further accelerated since its majority sale to private equity outfit BGH Capital.

Martin noted that the Applejack purchase is one part of Fusion5’s broader market play, which recently inspired a brand refresh; “We’re focused on growth across the board – from building a significant artificial intelligence team to investing heavily in our data practice and bringing in vertical capabilities that can be applied throughout the business,” the CEO stated.

Notably, Fusion5 already boasts a team of more than 100 Oracle NetSuite specialists (with its overall trans-Tasman headcount edging toward 1,000 professionals) who have taken home scores of vendor awards, including eight consecutive nods for A/NZ solutions provider of the year. The firm has also recently extended its NetSuite offering to organisations in the Pacific Islands.

Upon receiving the previous national award, Fusion5 senior sales manager Joel Mikkelsen, who joined the firm from Applejack in 2020, said: “Our NetSuite partnership is a core part of our business. We understand that our full commitment not only benefits Fusion5, but more importantly our customers, who recognise that we are striving to do the right thing by them.”
