Construction consultancy SJA adds Tim Hoare to its team
International construction consultancy SJA has strengthened its Australian Expert Services team with Tim Hoare.
Tim Hoare joins SJA from homegrown design and engineering firm Meinhardt Bonacci, where was a principal structural engineer. Earlier in his career, Hoare held leadership roles at Rickards & Partners – a Sydney-headquartered counterpart most known for its structural and façade engineering expertise – as a practicing structural engineer.
With over 25 years of experience in the engineering and construction industries under his belt, Hoare brings extensive expertise in all facets of structural engineering to SJA, including the forensic investigation, analysis and expert reporting of design and construction defects and associated compliance to National Construction Code, Australian and New Zealand Standards.
A qualified structural engineer and a testifying expert, Hoare has worked across multiple industry segments including residential, commercial, retail, heritage, adaptive refurbishment, industrial, aged care, health, education and defense.
At SJA, a privately-held consulting firm established in 1999, Hoare joins the Expert Services team – one of its five main practices alongside Advisory Services, Planning and Programming, Project Management and Quantity Surveying.
The Expert Services practice specialises in the provision of construction building and structural expert witness services to owners, contractors, subcontractors and law firms in litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation proceedings across most construction and infrastructure sectors. The team works ahead of and during dispute resolution tribunals.
The division is part of the SJA construction and advisory delivery firm specialising in expert services, advisory services, planning & programming, project management and quantity surveying.
Commenting on the appointment, company Founder and Managing Director Steve Abbott said: “We are thrilled to welcome Tim to our team. He further complements the depth of expert services to enhance our coordinated client solution.”
The senior hire comes shortly after SJA, which has further operations in Auckland, Hong Kong and London, onboarded three new members to its Project Management team in Australia: David Kong, Samanta Piatek and Valentina Indovino.
