WA Health selects Deloitte for SAP SuccessFactors roll-out
The Department of Health in Western Australia – WA Health – has awarded Deloitte a contract to trial SAP workforce solutions with healthcare service providers across the state.
WA Health announced a transformation drive last year – with a distinct focus on managing human resources in an evolving healthcare landscape. “A modern and contemporary HR system will enable better workforce planning in response to the changing health needs of the Western Australia community,” said the region’s Health Minister Roger Cook at the time.
A search for partners and vendors to test new solutions began in September last year, and has now yielded Deloitte as the lead consultant – tasked with piloting SAP workflow solutions, and HR software from US-based vendor Ultimate Software and Kronos.
In focus is SAP SuccessFactors – a ‘human experience management’ tool that enables workers to maximise their performance by staying engaged and in control. The underlying technology integrates payroll, HR and rostering functions on employee devices to give them real-time information on shifts, leave and pay.
And employers benefit from a detailed overview of workflows – to inform better planning, reporting and governance. To develop a proof-of-concept, Deloitte will pilot new HR and payroll technology with select staff at the Royal Perth Hospital, Broome Health Campus and Derby Hospital between now and September this year.
The goal is to demonstrate value, which can then be leveraged to solicit funding for a wider regional rollout. Cook highlighted the importance of piloting the new technology before embarking on a full launch – given the size and scale of the task at hand.
“This is a significant commitment and investment to transform and improve the WA health system payroll and HR systems. Undertaking a proof of concept process will enable us to test the practicality and feasibility of the proposed system to ensure it is fit for purpose.”
With the selection of Deloitte, Cook expressed satisfaction at being “one step closer” to WA Health’s modernisation objectives. And the advisors inspire confidence in their own right. Deloitte is an award-winning SAP implementation partner at a global level, and is currently working on another SAP SuccessFactors project in Australia – the workflow transformation of New South Wales power distribution company Endeavour Energy.
