Argon & Co has beefed up its procurement capabilities in Australia with the acquisition of Caliba Group, one of the nation’s leading procurement-focused consultancies.

In its fifth deal in Oceania over the past two years, Argon & Co has purchased Brisbane-based Caliba Group, adding a team of around 20 staff to its headcount. Across its offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, and Brisbane, Argon & Co now has over 160 consultants.

“The addition of Caliba bolsters our existing procurement offering as well as enhances our industry scope within the Australia and New Zealand region,” said Paul Eastwood, Managing Partner of Argon & Co in Asia Pacific.

Originally established through the merger of two European consultancies specialised in strategic operations and supply chain, Argon & Co has over the years invested significantly in expanding its procurement capabilities. In Australia, Argon & Co has similarly been expanding its procurement footprint, but with Caliba Group on board, the firm has now doubled down on that ambition.

Founded in 2011, Caliba Group specialises in procurement advisory and the realisation of cost reduction potential. According to its own records, the firm has delivered over 500 projects since its inception, helping its clients achieve cost savings of over half a billion dollars. Caliba Group has deep knowledge in sectors including healthcare, heavy industry, transport & logistics, and food & beverage.

“Through shared clients and collaborative projects, we have witnessed first-hand the depth of knowledge and expertise embedded in the Caliba team within the procurement space and believe this will add substantial value to our remit,” said Eastwood. “We are ready to take our capabilities to the next level.”

As part of the deal, Caliba Group co-founders Jim Cowan and Daniel Williams will join as Argon & Co as partners. “We are excited to join Argon & Co and be part of a forward-thinking business that shares our passion for making a real difference for clients and our commitment to developing our staff.”

“Our service offering to clients will continue to grow and our staff will be given the opportunity to be at the forefront of our business, delivering projects, whilst enjoying the benefits of a global organisation.”

Outside of Australia and New Zealand, Paris-headquartered Argon & Co, which is backed by private equity, has offices in Paris, London, Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam, Atlanta, Chicago, Dusseldorf, Hong Kong, Lausanne, Mumbai, Riyadh, São Paulo, and Singapore.
