The Australian Association of Graduate Employers has named a number of leading consultancies among this year’s top internship providers, with Pitcher Partners leading the way in third place.

The annual AAGE Top Intern Programs list was determined according to 2,400 survey responses from students who undertook placements between March of last year up until February and rated their experience across 15 categories.

This year, the top twenty-ranked organisations across three intake categories made the overall list, with Pitcher Partners landing in third place in the medium bracket for programs of between 21 and 50 interns.

Pitcher Partners finished one place ahead of turnaround & restructuring consultancy KordaMentha, with SW, McGrathNicol and William Buck also featuring among the top dozen in the medium-sized program category.

Meanwhile, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, BDO and PwC represented the accounting and professional services segment for intakes greater than 50.

Participants in the AAGE survey are asked to rate their employers across a range of metrics, including the quality of induction and training, work content, supervision, and performance feedback, as well as in areas such as the organisation’s culture & values and office social life. The anonymous responses are then tallied for each employer to provide an average rating.

Dubbed ‘Spark’, Pitcher Partners’ seven-week paid internship program is designed to give university students in their second to last year a taste of the professional service industry within one of the firm’s many practice areas, with vacationers given the opportunity to work directly with clients and senior staff and participate in tailored learning and development sessions.

SW attributed its 6th overall placing as a testament to the firm’s values-led culture and an environment where staff will always open their doors to graduates and interns, a sentiment backed by recent vacationer and Macquarie student Charlene Keight Molina: “Everyone at SW is always welcoming and happy to be a mentor, whether it’s regarding a task or even advice.”
